Again, so much can happen between now and the beginning of the 2024 NFL season, so these lists can look very different come August. This is especially true with WRs, because they are so dependent on other positions around them. Who is their QB, how do the other WRs on the team stack up, how good is the run game, etc. All of this can effect the season for the WR. So this list, maybe more than any other, very likely will change…but it’s still fun to speculate. And again, I like to make a list while the previous season is still fresh in my mind.

#1. Justin Jefferson-Minnesota Vikings
Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings running in for an easy TD.
Assuming Kirk Cousins will still be slinging it in Minnesota, I like Justin Jefferson to have a comeback season, and steal the spotlight in the fantasy world for WRs, in 2024. He has all the tools to dominate in his position; speed, height, athleticism, swag…Jefferson was well on his way to having a top 3 fantasy season through the first 4 weeks of 2023. His lines of 9 receptions on 12 targets, for 150 yards in week 1, 11 receptions on 13 targets for 159 yards in week 2, 7 receptions on 13 targets for 149 yards and a TD in week 3, and 6 receptions on 9 targets for 85 yards and 2 TDs in week 4, was as good of a fantasy start as there was for WRs in the NFL. Unfortunately for Jefferson, Viking fans, and Jefferson fantasy owners, he was injured early in the game in week 5, against the Kansas City Chiefs, and didn’t return again until week 14, against the Las Vegas Raiders, where he again was injured early in the game. He was able to return in week 15, and play in the final 4 games of the season, and played well in those 4 games. Look for Jefferson to carry that momentum into 2024, and have a stellar fantasy season.
#2. Tyreek Hill-Miami Dolphins
After Hill’s impressive 2022 season of 119 receptions for 1,710 yards and 7 TDs, fantasy owners both clamored to draft him in 2023, and wondered if he would be able to duplicate such a season. Well, in 1 less game played, Hill had 119 receptions yet again, for 1,799 yards this time, and almost doubled his TDs with 13.
There is a reason they call this guy the “Cheetah”. Hill is one of the fastest players in the NFL, if not the fastest, one of the most dynamic players, and is a threat to take it to the house at any point, from anywhere on the field. Miami’s strong run game keeps a defense honest, and forces the defense to defend every inch of the field. With all of this working in Hill’s favor, I see Hill having yet another top notch fantasy season.
#3. CeeDee Lamb-Dallas Cowboys
CeeDee Lamb of the Dallas Cowboys making a spectacular catch in the endzone.
Even though CeeDee Lamb had an incredible 2023 season, with 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 TDs, I’m having some reserve with Lamb being #3, due to the fact that I’m not sure who his QB will be. It’s more than likely that QB Dak Prescott will move elsewhere in free agency, so ranking Lamb is especially difficult at this point in the game. Lamb is still an incredible talent, and will be a very solid fantasy WR option, almost regardless of who the Cowboys are starting under center, but WR fantasy numbers can certainly decline, if your QB play declines. Still, Lamb’s top ranked 268 total fantasy points, a 15.8 point average per game in 2023, is hard to ignore. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out!
#4. Nico Collins-Houston Texans
This might be a little bit of a stretch, but hear me out on this one. 2023 was Nico Collins’ third season, but the first with quality QB play. 2023 was a breakout season for Collins, putting up an 80 reception for 1,297 yards and 8 TD line. The Texans hired new head coach, DeMeco Ryans, drafted QB C.J. Stroud, and fellow WR Tank Dell, and brought in RB Devin Singletary and TE Dalton Shultz, in the 2023 offseason. All of this added talent, to go along with Collins, helped the Texans go from a dismal record of 3-13-1 in 2022, to 10-7 and a first round playoff win in 2023. I see the Texans continuing to improve upon their new found success, including the play of 2nd-year-to-be QB Stroud, which will increase Collins’ fantasty value greatly. Look for Collins to put up huge fantasy numbers in 2024.
#5. Amon-Ra St. Brown-Detroit Lions
Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions
I watch the Lions play and can’t help but think, this guy is too little for the NFL. But at 6’0”, 202 lbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown is Electric! I mean, this guy is awesome! He had a very respectable rookie season in 2021 with 90 receptions, 912 yards and 5 TDs, improved upon that in 2022 with 106 receptions, 1,161 yards and 6 TDs, and improved up THAT with an impressive 119 receptions, 1,515 yards and 10 TDs in 2023. St. Brown has an eerily similar story to Collins. The Lions were terrible St. Brown’s rookie season, 3-13-1 to be exact. Unlike the Texans’ last-to-first-in-one-season, the Lions had an in between season to improve in 2022, where they went 9-8, respectably. But like the Texans, the Lions had a break out season in 2023, improving to 12-5 and a trip to the NFC Championship. QB Jared Goff was brought over to Detroit, St. Brown’s rookie season, and they have obviously built great chemistry over the 3 years. Will St. Brown be able to improve his stat line once again in 2024? I say yes!
#6. Puka Nacua-Los Angeles Rams
Puka Nacua finished the 2023 season ranked 5th in total fantasy points with 193, as a rookie. That’s impressive. A lot of his damage was done with fellow WR all star Cooper Kupp out, the first 4 weeks of the season. Nacua continued to impress, the rest of the 2023 season, but I have reservation as to how much fantasy value will be lost in 2024, with the combination of the 2 WRs playing together all season.
#7. Ja’Marr Chase-Cincinnati Bengals
Ja’Marr Chase is just too talented to be left off the top 10. Chase had the misfortune of his all pro QB Joe Burrow dealing with a calf injury to start the 2023 season, and then ending his season early when he popped a ligament in his right wrist in week 11. Chase still managed to haul in 100 receptions for 1,216 yards and 7 TDs. He dealt with some injury in 2022 missing 5 games, lowering his fantasy value then, but was 3rd among WRs in total fantasy points in 2021. I see Chase returning to that all pro form in 2024.
#8. Deebo Samuel-San Francisco 49ers
Deebo Samuel was incredible in 2021, ranking 2nd among WRs, with 261 total fantasy points, a 16.4 average per game, only behind an all time great season from Cooper Kupp. Samuel dealt with some injury in 2022, causing him to miss 5 games. He had to miss a couple of games due to injury in 2023 as well, but still managed to rank 7th in total fantasy points. Samuel is certainly capable of being in the top 3 in fantasy points when healthy. He plays in a high octane offense, but has to share the wealth with so many play makers in that 49er offense.
#9. A.J. Brown-Philadelphia Eagles
Because of the meltdown at the end of the season by the Eagles, it’s easy to overlook the fantasy value of their players. A.J. Brown still had 1,456 yards on 106 receptions, with 7 TDs, ranking him 8th in overall fantasy points, despite his lack of production late in the season. I still think Brown has plenty of fantasy value for 2024.
#10. Davante Adams-Las Vegas Raiders
We’re just one year removed from Davante Adams ranking 2nd among WRs in total fantasy points, with his 1,516 yards and a league leading 14 TDs. With chaos and dysfunction in the Raider organization, and a rookie QB to boot, Adams had a slight drop in production in 2023. In week 9 of the 2023 season, the Raiders went with a new head coach in Antonio Pierce. The Raiders seemed to get things together enough to claim a winning record, once he took over. Pierce will have his guys ready for 2024, including Adams, if he remains a Raider.
Just missed the cut:
#11. Cooper Kupp – dividing opportunities with Nacua.
#12. Keenan Allen – not sure where he will be playing in ’24.
#13. DJ Moore – who will be Moore’s QB in ’24?
#14. Mike Evans – who knows, maybe he’ll be ranked 4th again.
#15. Stefon Diggs – seems to be friction in Buffalo.
