As always in the NFL, new faces are constantly emerging onto the scene, with break out performances, making the most of opportunities given. There are also often old faces, with high expectations, who just don’t seem to have it that day. Thus, the fun of the fantasy football world. Week 6 in the NFL was no exception, packed with amazing plays and performances, and some “no shows” as well. Let’s check out the biggest highs and lows, studs and duds, of week 6!

Quarterbacks
Studs:
Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears- The number one overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft had an efficient day completing 23 of his 26 passes for 226 yards and 4 TDs, against the Jacksonville Jaguars across the pond in London. Williams also added 56 yards on the ground rushing, earning himself the QB1 title for week 6. From the fantasy side of things, Williams just continues to improve on his numbers, making him a more palatable QB option in your fantasy lineup moving forward.
Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Despite throwing 3 interceptions, Mayfield threw for 325 yards and 4 TDs, leading his team to victory, 51-27 over the divisional rival Saints. Mayfield started the game steady and solid, leading his team to a 17-0 lead. In the 2nd quarter, Mayfield fell apart and threw 3 INTs in 4 possessions. Later in the 2nd half, he was able to collect himself and pick apart the Saints defense to solidify the win.
Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers – Love just couldn’t do wrong Sunday, seemingly completing anything he threw, especially in the 1st half against the Arizona Cardinals. He and the Packers gained a 24-0 lead in the 1st half, having thrown for 3 TDs. He finished the day completing 22 of his 32 pass attempts for 258 yards and 4 TDs.
Jared Goff, Detroit Lions – Goff completed exactly 18 passes for the 4th time this season. Last week, he was a perfect 18/18. This week he needed 25 attempts to get his 18 completions for 315 yards and 3 TDs, as the Lions just toyed with Cowboys, beating them 47-9.
Honorable Mentions:
Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills – 19/25 for 215 yards and 2 TDs, 18 yards rushing and 1 TD
Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers – 18/28 for 255 yards and 3 TDs
Justin Fields, Pittsburgh Steelers – 14/24 for 145 yards, 11 carries for 59 yards and 2 TDs
Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles – 16/25 for 264 yards and 2 TDs
Duds:
Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys – Prescott and the Cowboy got just steamrolled by the Detroit Lions 9-47. Prescott didn’t help matters, only completing 17 of his 33 passes for just 178 yards and getting picked off twice.
Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals – While Love was having his way with Arizona’s defense, Murray himself wasn’t able to keep pace. He passed for his lone TD of the day in the 2nd quarter, being already down by 24. Last week, 7 rushes got him 83 yards and 1 TD. This week, his 7 rushes only got him 14 yards. Arizona lost the game to the Packers, 13-34.

Wide Receivers
Studs:
Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Anytime a team puts up 51 points, there’s a good chance at least one of the skill players had himself a game, as was the case for Godwin on Sunday. Godwin had his first double digit receptions game of the season with 11, that went for 125 yards, also a season high, and 2 TDs, his first multiple TDs game of the season, earning him the WR1 title for week 6.
Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers – Coming off the duds list from last week, where both he and teammate Juaun Jennings landed, Samuel bounced back in week 6 turning his 3 receptions into 102 yards, with one of them being a 76 yard dash to the house, on Thursday Night Football against the rival Seahawks.
A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles – Philadelphia Eagle’s fans and Brown fantasy owners alike were happy to see this guy back in the lineup, after missing 3 weeks and the bye week due to a strained hamstring. In his first game back, he caught 6 of his 9 targets for 116 yards and 1 TD, helping his Eagles get past the Browns, 20-16.
Allen Lazard, New York Jets – Since Lazard came down with the hail mary pass from QB Aaron Rodgers at the end of the first half, his fantasy numbers were bolstered to a 6-114-1 on Monday night.
Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders- The Commanders had a tough loss against the Ravens Sunday, but McLaurin did what he could to give his team a chance to win. He caught 6 of his 7 targets for 53 yards and 2 TDs. McLaurin was QB Jayden McDaniels’ go to in this game inside the red zone, a hopeful trend for McLaurin fantasy owners.
Honorable Mentions:
Romeo Doubs, Green Bay Packers – 3 receptions for 49 yards and 2 TDs
Garrett Wilson, New York Jets – 8 receptions for 107 yards and 1 TD
Gabe Davis, Jacksonville Jaguars – 5 receptions for 45 yards and 2 TDs
Keenan Allen, Chicago Bears – 5 receptions for 41 yards and 2 TDs
Duds:
DJ Moore, Chicago Bears – I’m not sure Moore deserves the duds title, as he did catch 4 of his 5 targets, but for Moore fantasy owners, coming up with only 20 yards isn’t going to work. He came up just short of the goal line on one reception, which would have at least salvaged a rather pedestrian fantasy day for Moore. The Bears had a convincing win over the Jaguars, 35-16 in London, and the ball and TDs were just spread around to other teammates in this one.
Brian Thomas Jr, Jacksonville Jaguars – Giving Thomas the dud title is also tough, being a rookie and all. But Thomas fantasy owners have grown to expect better from Thomas, especially in the past 2 weeks where he posted an 11-208-2 stat line in those two games combined. This week he was only able to bring in 3 receptions for 27 yards.
Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Evans has been a bit of a boom or bust WR this year, with 3 games booming, and 3 games busting. In week 6 against the Saints, the Bucs throttled New Orleans, but Evans only brought in 2 passes for 34 yards.
Running Backs
Studs:
Sean Tucker – Wow! Tucker entered this match up having only 2 rushing attempts all season. With fellow RB Rachaad White out with a foot injury, Tucker got his opportunity. He was given 14 attempts to rush the ball, which he turned in to the tune of 136 yards and 1 TD. He also was given 3 targets receiving, and he caught all 3 of them for 56 yards and 1 TD, and just like that, hes RB1 for week 6.
Derrick Henry, Baltimore Ravens – I had a hunch that Henry would have a good year this season, but I wasn’t expecting this. I mean, this guy is going crazy! Has anyone checked if he’s actually a cyber bot or something? Henry had compiled 572 rushing yards and 5 TDs in 5 games, scoring in all 5 games, leading up to this week. So against the Washington Commanders in week 6, he proceeded to rush for another 132 yards and 2 TDs.
Joe Mixon, Houston Texans – After missing 3 weeks due to an ankle injury, Mixon came back with a splash rushing for 102 yards and 1 TD, and catching 2 passes for 30 yards, one of them also going for a TD. Mixon missed an opportunity early in the game to score from within the 5 yard line and possibly catapulting him to the RB1 slot for the week.
Bijan Robinson, Atlanta Falcons – Robinson finally had that break out game Robinson fantasy owners have been anticipating all season long. Robinson had been averaging only 57 rushing yards per game, and had hit pay dirt only once all season. In week 6, with 15 carries, he rushed for 95 yards, and found the end zone twice. Robinson and Tyler Allgeier are the first RB pair from the same team to make the stud list, as Atlanta was able to run the ball all over the Carolina Panthers for the 38-20 win.
Honorable Mentions:
David Montgomery, Detroit Lions – 12 carries for 80 yards rushing and 2 TDs
Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons – 18 carries for 105 yards and 1 TD and (1) 2 point conversion
Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers – 14 carries for 106 yards and 1 TD
Duds:
Tank Bigsby, Jacksonville Jaguars – I know a lot of fantasy owners looked to see if they could swoop Bigsby off the waiver wire after he rushed for 101 yards and 2 TDs in week 5. Along with Travis Etienne dealing with injuries, you’d think opportunity would shape up for Bigsby to have another big day in week 6. Well 24 rushing yards was all he was able to muster up.
James Connor, Arizona Cardinals – Connor is coming off 37 attempt, 190 rushing yards, and 1 TD in weeks 4 & 5 combined. He had very similar numbers in weeks 1 & 2 combined. So for Connor to get only 7 attempts for 24 yards was a disappointment for Connor fantasy owners.
Trey Sermon, Indianapolis Colts – Sermon got his chance to shine, with lead RB Jonathan Taylor out with an injury. He rushed for a mere 29 yards on 18 attempts, probably losing the job to Tyler Goodson, who made a little bit more of his opportunity.

Tight Ends
Studs:
Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears – Kmet was part of the reason teammate WR DJ Moore ended up on the duds list . Kmet stole some of Moore’s targets, catching all 5 thown his way for 70 yards and 2 TDs, helping the Bears get a convincing win over the Jaguars, 35-16.
George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers – After missing week 3 due to injury, Kittle had 12 receptions, 111 yards and 2 TDs in the next 2 weeks combined. He didn’t slow down in week 6, where he caught 5 of his 6 targets for 58 yards and 2 TDs.
Honorable Mentions:
Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens – 3 receptions for 66 yards and 1 TD
Sam La Porta, Detroit Lions – 1 reception for 52 yards and 1 TD
Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals – 8 receptions for 96 yards
Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars – 10 receptions for 102 yards and 1 fumble lost
Duds:
Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys – Even though the Cowboys were getting blown out and were basically forced into passing play script, Ferguson still only had 3 receptions for 11 yards.
Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers – Plenty of fantasy owners got a little over zealous from Kraft’s week 5 performance of 4 receptions for 88 yards, 2 TDs and the week’s TE1 title. In week 6, Kraft turned around and caught 2 passes for 13 yards, despite Green Bay being on the passing attack for most of the game.
Defense
Studs:
Detroit Lions – Unfortunately for the Lions, Defensive Player of the Year candidate Aiden Hutchinson broke both bones in his leg and is out for the season. Despite the incredibly tough news coming out of Detroit, the Lions still held the Cowboys to 3 field goals, had 4 sacks, 3 INTs, and 2 fumble recoveries.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Even though the Bucs gave up 27 points, they also had 5 sacks, 2 INTs a fumble recovery and a defensive TD.
Duds:
Dallas Cowboys – The Cowboys had 3 sacks, but gave up 47 points to the Detroit Lions, and not much else to show for.

Hey Mike,
I just wrapped up reading an engaging piece on the fantasy football highlights from NFL Week 6, and I must say, it was both enlightening and a thrill to go through.
First off, the performances from both rookie and seasoned players were nothing short of spectacular. Caleb Williams, for instance, is proving to be an exciting addition to the fantasy league, showing remarkable improvement each week. His performance against Jacksonville was particularly impressive, showcasing his dual-threat capability which is always a bonus in fantasy terms.
On the flip side, it was interesting to note the ups and downs of players like Baker Mayfield and Jared Goff. Mayfield, despite his interceptions, managed to pull through with a significant yardage and touchdown count, a testament to the unpredictability and excitement that fantasy football brings.
I found your article to be a fantastic resource for any fantasy owner looking to get a comprehensive recap of the week’s highs and lows. It’s clear that the world of fantasy football is as dynamic as ever, and staying informed with such detailed reviews can give any enthusiast an edge in their league.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this or any standout players on your radar!
All the Best,
Eric
Hey Eric!
Love the feed back. I really enjoy a back and forth with someone who is obviously keen to what is going on in the NFL and the fantasy aspect of it, like yourself.
I totally agree with your assessment of Caleb Williams. It has been fun to watch a number of rookies across the NFL having success. Sometimes it takes a few years before they start to shine.
That Bucs game v. the Saints was just wild. Mayfield went from good, to terrible for like 4 possessions, then to really good in the 2nd half.
One player I particularly have on my radar, a player on bye this week so he may be available on waiver wire, is KC wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster. KC is very thin in receivers, and Travis Kelce doesn’t look like his old self, so Smith-Schuster should continue to get a high volume of targets. Plus, he has Patrick Mahomes throwing him the ball, which helps any pass catcher.
